Where To Meet
Welcome to the AshurstBC training page!
AshurstBC are a triathlon, running and cycling club based in the St Helens with a catchment area which includes Liverpool, Manchester, Warrington and other surrounding areas. Our training sessions are open to non-club members and are intended to provide structured group training to athletes of all standards. Everyone is welcome, including members of all other clubs, ABC membership is not required.

Structured Run Training
The St Helens running group involves local triathletes and distance runners and there is a wide range of standards throughout the group. The session is free to attend and all runners are welcome, whether members of a running club or not and it's purpose is for runners to train together to fitness and social reasons. The group meet 6:50pm and leave at 7:0pm from Central Fitness in St Helens, post code: WA10 2JB. Email for further details marc@theendurancecoach.com
Structured Cycle Training
From November to early March the Ashurst bike club organise a regular Sunday group ride and attend a weekly chain gang session. As spring approaches the Sunday group ride and weekly chain gang are replaced by a mid-week 10 miles time trial each Thursday evening and cycling / triathlon events at weekends. The mid-week time trial is organised by Merseyside Wheelers Cycling Club and generally starts at the end of April and takes place at Bickerstaffe near Rainford.

Course is laps of Pimbo road, when you arrive, keep riding circuit to pick up other riders

Structured Swim Training (SST) Session
Training session for triathlon competitors take place each Saturday morning 9.00am - 10.30am at Selwyn Jones Sports Centre, Newton Le Willows. The cost of the session is £4-00, all standards are welcome and it is open to all triathlon competitors, club members or otherwise. Each session is lead by a qualified coach and periodised throughout the year to match the triathlon season. More information can be found from the main swim menu on the left hand side of the page.
If you intend to swim regularly on Saturday mornings, you will need to purchase a set of swimming fins and a set of hand paddles to participate fully in each swim set. This is not compulsory, but you would benefit greatly from their use. If you have either or both, please bring them with you to poolside.

Stroke Improvement Clinics
Stroke improvement clinics operate from the same location as the Structured Swim Training from November to March. These intense 3 week programmes are aimed at development of the front crawl stroke for s competing in triathlon or similar events. 1-2-1 Swim Sessions
1-2-1 swim sessions also operate from Selwyn Jones Sports Centre. During an initial 90 minute assessment you will complete video collection, a full stroke analysis and a personal action plan will then be constructed. Further development sessions are available which will be dictated by your initial assessment. More information can be found from the main swimming menu on the left hand side of the page.
Open Water Swim Training
Regular open water swim training is available every Wednesday evening from May to September, close to Junction 25 M6. The cost of the session is £5-00, all standards are welcome and it is open to all triathlon competitors, club members or otherwise. Open Water Swim Clinics
Open water swim clinics are individual training days whcih operate from May to August, they include a combination of theory and practical sessions to cover open water swim skills and technque analysis. They are an ideal introduction to openwater swimming and the perfect opportunity to receive stroke feedback and corection within the openwater environment.
