Sports Science Research - triathletes we need your help! (18/06/2009 @ 22:52:49)

We are currently conducting research into bike and run performance, specifically analysing the effects of biking upon breathing rates in subsequent running. Volunteers will gain a great deal of feedback from the research and if you feel that your breathing rate is particularly high when running after biking.. this could be the perfect opportunity to find a solution!
 
Testing session 1 takes place on 22nd/23rd July and session 2 takes place on 29th/30th July. There are 2 visits in total per subject and each visit involves a 20 minute cycle time trial followed by a 15 minute run time trial. For more info email marc@theendurancecoach.com

Weekly Open Water Swim Training - Starts May 6th (21/02/2009 @ 20:18:58)

Weekly open water swim training starts May 6th at Rock and River outdoor centre, close to Junction 28 of the M6. The sessions are £5, there are 3 'lanes' and coaches run the structured session from the side of the lake. The open water sessions operate very much like pool based sessions using buoys to mark swim lanes and swimmers complete a warm up, main set and cool down. For more information GO HERE

Cycling and Running Sports Science Research - Be Involved! (11/01/2009 @ 16:35:39)

Liverpool John Mooores University are conducting a study which examines prolonged exercise at different temperatures upon performance and in particular it's effect upon the heart. The study involves 5 visits to the sports science laboratories at the university to complete a VO2 max test for both cycling and running followed by further visits to complete separate long rides and runs at different temperatures. If you are competing in long distance events such as ironman and the weather is going to be warm, this provides you with a great opportunity to lean about you own physiology. how you respond to prolonged exercise in the heat and gain feedback from pioneering scientists.
